Matthew 7:24 speaks of the value of building one’s house on the solid rock (Christ Jesus). By doing so, it will stand firm, no matter what the storm. And as we all know, the storms of life can get very severe. What really captures my thoughts is what the value of a house built on Biblical Principles can mean to a family.
A foundation like that, not only helps the parents through the hard times, but it provides a good foundation for the children and the children’s children to build their lives upon. It will work in their favor all through their lives. On the other hand, what saddens me is to see the children who were provided no Godly foundation. It is like they are set adrift in the world. No anchor, no pilot, no foundation, no purpose. I see this very often in the prison ministry. What a horrible plight.
Psalms 103:17 states; But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep his covenants and remember to do His commandments.
My challenge for us is to work hard at building a solid family foundation based upon the instructions and insights we find in the Bible. There is no greater feeling than for your mate to give you a hug and say “Thank you,” I feel so secure,… or for your son to run up the walk, throw his arms round you and say “Thank You” for being such a good father.
And in addition to that, the Lord will say to you, “well done my good and faithful Servant.”
