Casa Angelina Orphanage - Guatemala November 09
When you see the progress that has been made in 5 years, there is no doubt that God has given this ministry great favor and massive vision. Out of tragedy...we see happy, healthy children eagerly greeting our arrival. Another team from Canada was already in full swing with the projects and ministry to the children and women of the village. Judy from Canada was teaching the women to sew and to make purses for the market place.
In the beginning, the village people resisted the placement of the orphanage on their outskirts and would spit at them in protest and defiance. However, in time, ministry and opportunity for and to the village won their hearts over to the rejected children of the Guatemala City Dumps and poverty. Children abused by man are now in a land and place one could only dream in a most impossible dream ... but for them is a reality.

Our Angel project money was enough for 5 bicycles, three Guitars, things for 90 stocking, food for the widows & staff. Medical supplies at the clinic.
In our ministry bags, we were able to bring Children's bibles, mini stories, school supplies, stocking, flip flops, clothes, Candy, Ministry items.
On Saturday, our team traveled with Patti, a young missionary named April and several other Alabama team members to another town about an hour away from Antigua to a malnutrition center.
There were 15 babies in crib lined rooms along with 25 small children, the oldest was 12 years old. An image forever in my mind …. in one of the cribs, lay a 2 year old the size of a 9 month with much less mobility. Another boy that had been found in a garbage can. Most of the children have parents and are at the malnutrition center to gain weight and normal development. One little boy in the play yard grabbed onto Jerry and clung to him even when we had to move onto another section.
We spent the day, played and taught the children and held the babies. All the children's and babies clothes, flip flops, medical was left at this center.
There is such a great need. April's church in Antigua has stepped up to help and visit the center to hold babies. They have been able to come help clean up the facilities and help restore some of the deterioration. Once it had been a thriving hospital for 200 children ... the founder died and along with him the support, things deteriorated, bugs took over the beds. Now with the Antigua church and Lion's club are bringing back a place to offer hope to parents that cannot feed their own children in the face of starvation.
Hunger with malnutrition has a very ugly painful face.
